Ulrich Riehl

In Bonn geboren, erhielt er mit 8 Jahren seinen ersten Trompetenunterricht. Wenige Jahre später wurde er Preisträger nationaler und europäischer Wettbewerbe. Das Studium führte ihn nach Köln, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Berlin und Paris. Als Stipendiat der Herbert-von-Karajan-Stiftung spielte er bei den Berliner Philharmonikern.

Seit 2002 ist er Mitglied des Orchesters der Deutschen Oper Berlin.

Neben seiner Orchestertätigkeit und Solistenkarriere widmet er sich auch dem Dirigierstudium. Wichtige Impulse erhält er hierbei besonders durch Pierre Boulez und Jorma Panula. 2008 wurde er Chefdirigent des Orchester BerlinClassicPlayers und künstlerischer Leiter der Konzertreihe in der Philharmonie Berlin.

Es folgten Einladungen zu Gastdirigaten nach China, Serbien, Spanien, Italien, Rumänien, Lettland u.a.

Ulrich Riehl, Artistic Director

German conductor, Ulrich Riehl, has been artistic director and chief conductor of BerlinClassicPlayers Orchestra since 2008. The orchestra has its own concert series in the Berlin Philharmonic, and within a short time has established itself as one of most sought after ensembles in Berlin's cultural landscape. He also serves as a conductor in chief of the Berlin Chamber Orchestra Concertino. Mr. Riehl's repertoire includes works from the oratorio, opera and instrumental literature. He has studied with Maestro Pierre Boulez, Jorma Panula and Professor Lutz Köhler.

In 2009, Mr. Riehl conducted Handel's Xerxes, Mozart's Magic Flute and excerpts from numerous Purcell's operas among others. The 2010/11 season, will take him to Serbia, Spain, Bulgaria, the United States and Asia as a guest conductor.

As a trumpet player, Ulrich Riehl, has been a winner of numerous European competitions. He was a fellow of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic. With the orchestra he was part of numerous television and radio productions as well as concert tours around the world. In 2002, Mr. Riehl, became a member of the orchestra of Deutsche Oper Berlin. In addition, Mr. Riehl is an active soloist and chamber music player. He has taught master classes at home and abroad.
